Battery Storage Costs Drop Below Natural Gas Turbines in Data Center Applications

Battery storage has become cheaper than open-cycle gas turbines in 43 markets globally, according to Wood Mackenzie, as energy costs rise and data center demand surges. Solar remains the cheapest energy source in most markets, while battery costs are projected to decline further, displacing natural gas peaking plants.

Batteries are now cheaper than natural gas turbines as the data center boom pushes prices up.
